
HOW IT WORKS
The City of Trenton’s Wastewater Treatment Plant has been in operation since 1964. The City operates an Activated Sludge Treatment Facility. On an average day, 4 million gallons per day are treated with a design capacity of 6.5 million gallons per day. Belt filter presses and Landfill is used for sludge disposal.
The plant consists of:
- 1 chlorine contact chamber
- 2 belt filter presses
- 2 sludge holding tanks
- 2 sludge thickening tanks
- 4 aeration basins
- 4 final clarifiers
- 5 primary settling tanks
- An aerated grit chamber

The City also operates:
- 4 sewage lift stations,
- 1 emergency storm lift station,
- and a 20-million gallon storage basin.
All located in various sections of the city. This modern facility is located on 5.5 acres at 1801 Van Horn Road, Trenton, MI.
